I had loads of ideas for this week and pretty much stuck to just one!
So here are some doodles - they started as a range of children's characters I developed a few years ago for greetings cards, t-shirts and bags.
Recently revived, my doodles were used in last week's green challenge showing how they have developed into a type of caricature. They have become children's teachers, wedding couples and families on Christmas cards - here is a range of the characters in their dressing up outfits and a more developed unicorn costume.
There is a wonderful creative community on facebook - 52 Week Illustration Challenge. It's called a challenge, because we each challenge ourselves to produce an illustration every week following a prompt set by the group's admin. I think of it as a community because there is a huge amount of support and encouragement amongst its members to have faith in our work and to grow as artists. (There I said it, 'artist'!)

My son, drawn from a photo using inktense pencils and water wash. I have added the 'before' version so you can see the incredible changes that the water makes to these pencils. |

I had lots of ideas this week - sadly not enough time and energy to do all of them. Here are the three I completed.

Week 9: Texture

I was a bit stumped and also very busy this week, so here are my two humble offerings.
Both with colour pencils, in the second one, the pencils were blended with baby oil on cotton buds.
